I did a lot of research online for a life-jack to go along with new Hobie Sport kayak. I almost bought Hobie branded life jacket because of the many excellent reviews I read online. My standard life jacket consistently ride up to my chin when I used it for kayaking.I learned the the Hobie life jacket is made by the same manufacture, Stohlquist. I bought this a considerable discount $60 with free shipping compare to $90 Hobie rebranded. This hi-back design is extremely easy to wear in a kayak as it raises high about the seat. Here is a number easily adjustable straps (eight) in total which allow to fit perfectly. All the straps are easily accessible once you put on the jacket. I believe the previous reviewer has an issue putting on the jacket because straps are adjusted before she put it on. Accent on the Type III and a little less on the flotation. As a strapped-on PFD this is about the minimum life-saving protection for rough water. You trade that for some comfort and flexibility in other areas. If you're a serious offshore sea-kayaker you might want to think twice about a Type III and consider instead a Type I. There should be some very conspicuous guidance or links to guidance on Amazon's pages offering PFDs. I know that is a bit of nannyism but I am just suggesting that essential information be made more easily available.Then there is performance. I found that this PFD does tend to ride up, whether you are paddling or trying to float. Even when properly adjusted and tight, the tendency for this to ride up will mean that your head rides relatively down, which is there the water is.
