And they'll save your life in an emergency. We permanently keep four of these in a small boat where we don't intend to wear them. Note, however, that these life jackets are not the type you want to buy if you plan to wear them regularly. They're bulky and uncomfortable. If you want a life jacket to wear on or in the water, get one of the vest styles. There are tons out there, they range in cost from about $20 to $100 or more, and many are designed specifically for certain activities (water skiing, canoeing, sailing, etc.). Obey the law without going bankrupt. These things are kind of big, but if you're just messing around in the water where lifejackets are required, you can't beat the cheap price. I would have preferred two sets of straps (you get what you pay for) and I believe the tie under the neck is missing. All and all, it serves its purpose.
