I know that often sports gear is small for the size it says on it - for instance often I will pick something up that says XL and it is really like a Medium. I was very happy that this vest fit with plenty of room to spare! My husband tried it on and he is an 2xl Tall (6'7") and it was too small for him (He could buckle it but it had to be let all the way out and was too tight) and super short kinda like a mid-riff shirt - so I would not recommend it for a big guy. I bought him a 6X in another brand instead.I also like that this vest is not bulky in the armpits at all. I can wear it and row the canoe and it doesn't bunch up or shift much and I don't feel trapped which happens sometimes with these style vests. All in all a great price and worth the purchase. I would buy this again or recommend it to folks my size or a little bigger but... The sleeves are a nice open fit so I will be able to swim around easily. It fits great just the way it came and it also has adjustable straps so I could even make it larger if needed.
